Netflix have just unleashed the new trailer for XO Kitty season two, which promises to make waves on the streaming platform in the upcoming new year.

The series is the hotly-anticipated spin-off from the Netflix hit To All The Boys I've Loved Before, but instead spotlighting Lara Jean's sister, Kitty Song Covey.

In its first season, we watched Kitty up sticks and jet off to Seoul, Korea, chasing romance with her beau Dae. She walks the halls of her mother's old high school, only to find herself tangled in a love web as she catches feelings for Yuri towards the close of the season.

Anna Cathcart, who embodies Kitty, shared that it's "really about Kitty learning that love can look a lot of different ways and that it's not something that you necessarily can figure out super easily."

Leaving viewers on a cliff-hanger with Kitty spotting Yuri and her new girlfriend, the second series' teaser hints at our lead grappling with unaddressed emotions for her pal but also braving the dating scene and piecing together her mum's past.

In a jaw-dropping twist for the fanbase, Peter Kavinsky of To All The Boys fame makes an unexpected landing in Seoul to throw Kitty a curveball. The trailer sees a moment where Peter tells Kitty: "You are Kitty Song freakin' Covey. Don't you forget it", before they share a warm embrace, reports Manchester Evening News.

Fan frenzy has taken over X (formerly known as Twitter), with followers completely buzzing over the latest series news. One keen fan couldn't contain their excitement, tweeting: "PETER KAVINSKY? Lord thank you for almost bringing my family back together now all we need is Lara Jean."

Another equally thrilled user posted: "PETER KAVINSKY?! Had me giggling, kicking my feet," as a third jubilant fan shared: "I JUST FELL TO MY KNEES OMFG." Another begged the streamer: "A little warning next time, my heart wasn't ready."

Debates are raging among viewers about which couple they're rooting for as endgame. One user declared: "Team Minho", while another chimed in: "We will be seated for them", as yet another anticipated: "Minho and Kitty endgame when!"

Some are holding out for a plot twist where Kitty sets off sparks with Yuri instead, with one saying: "'I'm not over Yuri' I SCREAMED," and someone else concurring with: "Kittyuri endgame."

XO, Kitty's showrunner Jessica O'Toole, famed for her work on Charmed, spilled the beans on Noah Centineo returning as Peter Kavinsky, gushing: "It was amazing to watch Anna and Noah together on set; they have so much love and respect for each other and you can feel it in their scenes together. This season of'XO, Kitty is all about where Kitty is going but also where she came from."

O'Toole praised the move as "so exciting" for getting to witness Peter mingle with the beloved XO, Kitty characters. And as if to tease fans even more, she hinted at "some big moments fans have been waiting for and others they will never see coming."

XO, Kitty season two will be available to stream on Netflix on January 16
